Shell Farm at Tambon Wan Yao

 
 

This is the largest shell farming community in Chanthaburi with various species of shell, including cockle, oyster, mussel; and other fresh seafood, including shrimp, crab, crayfish, and fish. As the locals are fishermen and shell farmers, currently they have developed ecotourism offering 30 boats to service visitors – possible to handle from 5 to more than one hundred visitors at a time.

Visitors can enjoy exploring the local fishery wisdom – the shallow-water catch of crab, crayfish, shrimp; the demonstration of crab and oyster processing; shell farming visit where its shelters in the sea are welcome not just to see but taste. Interested visitors can learn from the beginning of farming to the end where the product is sold to the market; they will be impressed with the thorough path provided.

Recently, the farm offered board-riding to learn the local way of catching razor clam on the mud beach of Tambon Wan Yao. Furthermore, the fresh and cheap seafood is worth a huge purchase.
